Day 1: Austin, TX

So it's finally here. Day 1. Lift-off. We started this morning at around 9am and drove ALL DAY! So this is not a very exciting post.
We stopped at Walmart to get some groceries in Jenning, LA, and switched drivers (from Mom to me). I'm pleased to say that I drove for 2-1/2 hours out of a 9-hour drive. (I'm not really that proud.) There is always something kind of fun about eating in the car. I'm not sure why, I guess because you can just stare at the people next to you and flaunt your turkey sandwich. We did alot of that today. My mom, my brother, my ten-year-old cousin (who could easily pass for a fourteen-year-old) and I demolished an entire fruit platter, veggie platter, and a lot of turkey and cheese. When we finally got to Austin we were really happy to find that the hotel we booked for two nights is actually comparable to an apartment. It even has a fireplace. And we're in Texas...? Speaking of the hot, and firey: We saw a sign on the way that claimed 100 degrees.... Although, I'm still not sure it was, one thing is for sure: It'll be a long, hot summer. And it's just the beginning.
